Christmas Market and Strip District
Our bus was full last year for our trip to Pittsburgh and several retirees have asked that we do this trip again. So, back by popular demand, we're doing this again. There is a slight change this year. Since Market Square is under construction, the holiday chalets will be set up in the Cultural District.
Join us on Friday, November 21, as we travel to the Pittsburgh Peoples Gas Holiday Market and the Pittsburgh Strip District to kick off the Christmas shopping season. The perfect place to find that wonderful, unique gift for your loved ones. You may enjoy strolling through the holiday markets for that perfect gift or simply browse the festive atmosphere of seasonal decorations, artisans and vendors.
We will then travel to the Strip District for more shopping and dining. The Strip District is a foodie heaven and as authentic as it is fun. Locals love it for its low prices and tremendous selections. The shopping district consists of ethnic grocers, produce stands, meat and fish markets and sidewalk vendors. The Strip District also gives you the perfect opportunity to shop for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.
The cost of the trip is $37.00 per person. We will depart Morgantown at 9:30 a.m. from the Mountaineer Mall. We will return around 6:00 p.m. . There will be room for purchases and insulated bags under the bus and above our seats. You can leave purchases on the bus safely between stops. Refund Policy: Reservations are due by Friday, November 14, 2025. On that day we will make our commitment to the bus company. As a result, we will not be able to make any refunds after that date.
Making reservations is a three-step process. You need to: (1) reserve your seat(s) on the bus, (2) write your check to the WVU Foundation, and (3) mail your check to the Retirees Association (please do not mail your check to the Foundation).
