Annual Meeting

The third Annual Meeting was held on April 26.  The board president reported on the past year's activities and updated members on upcoming events.

The Association significantly expanded its activities this year.  The Association worked to offer different kinds of events in order to present something attractive to each member.  Annual MeetingEvents ranged from bird watching to ball games; from local tours to bus trips; and a national tour.  The monthly luncheons continued with a speaker and the Book Club added more noteworthy books to its discussions.  Volunteer activities included several opportunities to give back to both the community and the University.  You can see all past activities on our website at Past Events.

Extension PresentersEric Murphy and Emily Murphy, representatives of the Monongalia County Extension Services, gave a presentation about the programs and services available through Extension Services.  In each area - Agriculture, Home and Family, and Law and Garden - there are programs that could be helpful to retirees.  They also answered many questions from the membership.  Retirees were asked for feedback on what would interest them.

The membership elected two new board members.  Linda Baer's term was up in the Non-Classified category and Jo Nath's term was up in the Faculty category.  Bill Quigley was elected to the Board to fill the Non-Classified position and Diana Scott-Beattie was elected to the Faculty position.  Awards were presented to outgoing directors in appreciation of their service to the Association.

The membership also ratified a change to the bylaws to further define the role of the Nominating Committee.

After the meeting, members were invited to socialize and enjoy the dessert reception.
