Lavender Farm and More

Retirees traveled to Garrett County, Maryland to visit Lavender Farm and other attractions in and around Deep Creek. They started at the Simon Pearce Factory Outlet for a glassblowing demonstration. Then on to the Garrett County Historical Museum, the Oakland B&O Railroad Museum, and the Garrett County Museum of Transportation that featured the Smithsonian Exhibit: Places of Innovation. Afterwards they had lunch at the 3rd Street Diner in Oakland, Maryland and then visited Deep Creek Lavender Farm to see the lavender fields at peak bloom.
Blood Drive
Thursday, June 25, 2025The WVU Retirees Association held a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross in the Nutting Gallery at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center. We asked retirees to turn out since our usual student donors were on break. And they did, All slots were filled and we has a record donation. Thanks retirees!

Master Slave Husband Wife: An Epic Journey from Slavery to Freedom by Ilyon Woo. The book is a rich narrative of the Crafts, an enslaved couple who escaped from Georgia in 1848, with light-skinned Ellen disguised as a disabled white gentleman and William as her manservant.
