Shades of Ireland
March 13-25, 2026
In March, WVU retirees traveled with Collette for the Shades of Ireland tour featuring Northern Ireland. We joined the party atmosphere to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day in Killarney, Ireland. We also had a chance to kiss the Blarney stone at Blarney Castle. We visited the Ring of Kerry, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Giant’s Causeway. We traveled for 13 days and 12 nights to visit the cities of Dublin, Killarney, Derry, and Belfast among others. Our tour guide was both knowledgeable and entertaining (that's Brian in the back on the right) and our bus driver was fun and skilled (that's Diarmuid on the left). It was a good time and a good group.

The March book was Better: A Surgeon's Notes on Performance by Atul Gawande. The struggle to perform well is universal but nowhere is this drive to do better more important than in medicine, where lives are on the line with every decision. In this book, Atul Gawande explores how doctors strive to close the gap between best intentions and best performance in the face of obstacles that sometimes seem insurmountable.
Let's Go Bowling
Mondays in March
Beginning on March 2, retirees bowled each Monday in March beginning at 10 a.m. at Suburban Lanes. They planned to bowl three games each Monday and were done around noon. The games were $3.00 each. Ball and shoes were free.
