Zach Fowler, the Director of the Core Arboretum, led members of the Retirees Association
on a spring ephemeral wildflower walk. Ephemeral meaning lasting for only a short
time.
We missed the bluebells, but the woods were carpeted with delphiniums or
you may know them as larkspur. Among the flowers we saw were spring beauties (tangle
gut), bear corn (squaw root), and the flowers on mayapples (hard to spot but beautiful).
Zach took all the time we needed to walk the trails. He even introduced us to Aldo,
a large owl that nests in the Arboretum. Overall, it was an excellent day for a
walk and an excellent walk. Thanks Zach.
