Sunny Portugal

In May 2025, retirees traveled to Sunny Portugal to tour ancient castles and Roman ruins, groves of orange and almond trees, and quiet whitewashed villages. The tour began in Lisbon to visit the Belem Tower and the Jeronimos Monastery, both UNESCO sites. Then to Evora to explore the medieval walled city and the Roman temple. Next was Lagos where Moorish and Renaissance influences meet towering seaside cliffs. They visited the Portuguese Riviera to see the mansions that hint at this area’s history as a haven for exiled European royals and nobility. They continued on to Sintra, another UNESCO site, that was the summer residence of Portuguese kings for six centuries.  And that was just a few of the highlights.  There was also an optional post-tour extension.
